We want to say a fond farewell (for now) and send many "Best Wishes!" to our fiddle player, Julian Pinelli, who is getting ready to head off to Berkeley College of Music in Boston.
He's an 18 year old wunderkind -- a hell of a fiddle player -- and awesome guy! As John says, "He's an animal." (in a good way, obvs)
We started playing with him about two years ago -- and we invited him to play with us at MerleFest this past April -- he has added so much dimension to what we do on stage.
We can only imagine how amazing he's going to be after attending Berkeley -- he's already such a fantastic musician as it is.
On behalf of the band, it's been a pleasure and an honor to play with you, friend. Best of luck at college and look forward to picking with you again SOON!
Here's one of Julian's last performances with us when we played the Grey Eagle a couple of weeks ago. He CRUSHED it.
Have a great freshman year!!
We've been looking forward to this show for a couple of months now!
It was a fateful day in March when we met The Defibulators. We were in Knoxville for Rhythm & Blooms and both of us made an appearance on WDVX's Blue Plate Special. They are a talented band, awesome folks (great music, naturally) and we talked about how fun it would be to share a show.
Well, the day came and The Defibulators are heading through Asheville with regional up and coming band, The Whiskey Gentry.
And yours truly will be opening the show! We'll have our friends, Dakota Waddell on upright, and Julian Pinelli on fiddle.
Get ready to GET DOWN, sahn.
Many thanks to writer Jessi Stone and The Mountaineer for publishing an article on us and our show at The Strand on 38 Main in Waynesville, NC this Thursday evening at 745pm.
We are looking forward to the show -- it's a beautiful facility, owned by Rodney and Lorraine Conard, who have done a wonderful job renovating this old building.
We'll be performing as a trio with our good friend, Dakota Waddell, on upright bass. Join us if you're in the area!
