Bristol Rhythm & Roots Eve

A little over two years ago, John and I were invited by a family friend to Bristol, Tennessee to experience Rhythm & Roots Reunion.  We had such a great time -- you walk in any direction down State Street (it's on the Tennessee/Virginia line) and hear all kinds of amazing music -- from emerging artists like Cahalen Morrison and Eli West to the Fabulous Superlative, Kenny Vaughn, to Dale Watson, and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. A few months before that, we had quit our jobs, moved to Asheville, started recording our album and playing gigs in the area....and thought, Wow, I wonder if we'll ever get a chance to play something like this?! And then I thought, Eh, it's gonna be a while...

And, would you believe it?! After hours upon hours of practice time, hundreds of gigs, big kindnesses from relative strangers, literal sweat & tears, supportive friends, risks taken, and a few little miracles along the way -- we are sooo grateful to all of you!! -- we were invited to play Bristol Rhythm & Roots this year!!

I've been damn near sitting on my hands the entire summer to contain my excitement.  To have MerleFest and now Bristol (almost) under our belts, it's more than we imagined!

We are thrilled to share the stage with our good friends, Dakota Waddell on bass (he's now a permanent member of our line-up), and the uber-talented Lyndsay Pruett on fiddle.  It's going to be an awesome weekend!

There's a fantastic line-up this year and in between our sets, we'll be hitting the pavement to see Emmylou Harris, Sturgill Simpson, Jeff Tweedy, and David Grisman, to name a few, as well as our friends Town Mountain, Mandolin Orange, The Whiskey Gentry, and fellow Mississippians Jimbo Mathus, and Jerekus Singleton.

Here's where and when we'll be taking the stage:

Friday, Sept 19:  Manna Bagel, 8pm
Saturday, Sept 20:  Borderline, 130pm
Sunday, Sept 21:  Machiavelli's, 1230pm

Here's are some other highlights for this month and next (check our shows page for times and exact locations):

Saturday, Sept. 27:  Fall Folklife Festival at the Margaret Mitchell House: Atlanta, GA
Saturday, Oct 3:  IBMA After Party, Hibernian Pub: Raleigh, NC
Saturday, Oct. 4:  Albino Skunk Fall Festival: Greer, SC
Sunday, Oct 12: Museum of Appalachia Fall Homecoming: Knoxville, TN

We also are excited to have a new touring machine!!  This road dog needs a good name -- got any suggestions?!

Comin' in hot!

We also have new merch as well -- koozies and stickers. We'll get the new & improved Merch Page up and running next week.

Y'all have a great weekend and we'll be reporting back soon to fill you in on our time in Bristol!

xx, Anna + John
